VAMOS Project is an international education initiative designed to build a strong network of teachers, researchers, and educators interested in Spanish language learning and Peruvian culture, with a special focus on supporting Japanese high school students.
The project aims to create meaningful learning opportunities that go beyond traditional language education by combining Spanish instruction, cultural exchange, research activities, and experimental learning. VAMOS is grounded in science-based education, innovative teaching methods, and capacity-building approaches that help students develop skills, confidence, and global awareness.
VAMOS prioritizes experiments and research-based learning as tools to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity among students. Rather than passive learning, students are encouraged to actively participate in projects, field activities, and collaborative research that connect language, culture, and real-world problem solving.
The project seeks to:
Reduce academic, social, and cultural barriers that limit student growth
Support students in discovering their potential and strengths
Promote innovation, creativity, and evidence-based learning
Build bridges between Japan and the Hispanic and Latino world
1. Spanish Language Education
Spanish learning is at the core of VAMOS, with programs designed for beginners and intermediate learners. Instruction emphasizes:
Practical communication and conversation
Learning through projects, interaction, and real-life contexts
Integration of culture, history, and social issues from Peru and Latin America
2. Cultural Exchange and Global Exposure
VAMOS promotes deep cultural exchange between Japan and Peru through:
Workshops on Peruvian and Latin American culture
Music, dance, food, and cultural storytelling sessions
Interaction with Peruvian educators, researchers, and students
Virtual and in-person exchanges that foster mutual understanding
3. Research and Experimental Learning
A distinctive feature of VAMOS is its strong emphasis on research and experiments. Students are introduced to:
Basic research methods and scientific thinking
Small-scale experiments related to education, culture, society, and development
Collaborative projects guided by researchers and educators
Learning how evidence and data can inform decisions and innovation
This approach helps students understand how science, research, and education are connected to real-world challenges.
4. Capacity Building and Skill Development
VAMOS supports the development of transferable skills, including:
Communication and presentation skills
Critical thinking and problem-solving
Teamwork and cross-cultural collaboration
Confidence, independence, and leadership
These skills are essential for students considering future careers in international cooperation, education, research, or global fields.
5. Educational Trips and Field Experience in Peru
When possible, VAMOS organizes or supports educational trips to Peru, allowing students to:
Experience Spanish and Peruvian culture in real contexts
Participate in cultural, educational, and research activities
Engage with local communities, schools, and institutions
Gain firsthand exposure to Latin American society and development challenges
These experiences are designed as learning journeys, not tourism, with a strong emphasis on reflection, ethics, and mutual respect.
VAMOS Project aims to create a sustainable international education network that connects Japanese high school students with educators, researchers, and institutions across Peru and the broader Hispanic world. By combining language learning, culture, research, and experimentation, the project prepares students to engage confidently with a globalized world.
Through VAMOS, students are encouraged to learn by doing, think scientifically, explore new cultures, and build the foundations for future academic, professional, and international opportunities.
